Some Stability Results in a Model for Genetically Altered Mosquitoes

چکیده
The stability of the positive fixed points of a discrete-time mathematical model for populations consisting of wild and genetically altered mosquitos proposed by Jia Li [1] is considered in this paper. The model is studied for proportional and constant mating rates. Under certain conditions the model with proportional mating rate has two positive fixed points, one unstable and the other locally asymptotically stable. For the constant mating rate case we show that under certain conditions the positive fixed point is globally asymptotically stable with respect to initial populations in which both species are present.

Stability in a Periodic Model for Genetically Altered Mosquitos
An extension of a discrete-time population dynamics model for wild and genetically altered mosquitoes that takes into account the effect of seasonal variability is presented. The seasonal variability is introduced into the model by allowing the birth and survival functions to have periodic parameters. We consider the stability of periodic solutions of the ratio dynamics and show that under some...
متن کاملGlobal Asymptotic Stability in the Jia Li Model for Genetically Altered mosquitoes
Malaria remains a major killer with more than 1 million deaths each year in sub-Saharan Africa alone while yellow fever, dengue fever, West Nile virus, encephalitis and filariasis continue to have an impact on populations worldwide. The Anopheles strains of mosquitoes are largely responsible for the transmission of Plasmodium or malaria, the Culex tarsalis accounts largely for West Nile virus, ...

We formulate a homogeneous model and a stage-structured model for the interactive wild mosquitoes and mosquitoes carrying genetically-modified bacteria. We establish conditions for the existence and stability of fixed points for both models. We show that a unique positive fixed point exists and is asymptotically stable if the two boundary fixed points are both unstable. The unique positive fixe...
متن کاملAn Agent-Based Model For The Control Of Malaria Using Genetically Modified Vectors
An agent-based model was developed to assess the use of Genetically Modified Mosquitoes (GMMs) as a control strategy for the Malaria epidemic. Mosquitoes responsible for the transmission of Malaria (vectors) have been modified genetically so that the probability of transmitting the parasite causing the disease when biting a human being is reduced with respect to wild type vectors. Our model rep...

In 2006, we reported a mariner (Mos1)-transformed Aedes aegypti line, Carb77, which was highly resistant to dengue-2 virus (DENV2). Carb77 mosquitoes expressed a DENV2-specific inverted-repeat (IR) RNA in midgut epithelial cells after ingesting an infectious bloodmeal. The IR-RNA formed double-stranded DENV2-derived RNA, initiating an intracellular antiviral RNA interference (RNAi) response. Ho...
